To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security what plans he has to increase family allowances; and by how much.

My right hon. Friend the Secretary of State has already announced that child benefit will be increased in line with prices from April 1994. The rates will increase to £10.20 for the eldest eligible child in the family and £8.25 for each other child.
