§ Mr. MaloneNo. General and senior managers represent only 2.6 per cent. of the NHS work force compared with 50.3 per cent. for nurses. Between 1983 and 1993 the number of qualified nurses increased by 8.3 per cent. and in 1993 there were additionally about 28,000 Project 2000 learners who are not included in the figures.
