§ Sir George YoungSome 17 per cent. of the people responding to the consultation exercise said they would like to see the creation of a single elected authority for 131W London and a further 6 per cent. made a specific reference to the GLC. In addition, 5 per cent. of respondents mentioned some form of single strategic planning authority for London, 1 per cent. an elected mayor, and 2 per cent. a combination of two or more of the suggestions.
