§ Mr. Frank Field
To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department when he expects to make public his full-time appointments to the Parole Board; and if he will make a statement on why full-time appointments are necessary.
§ Mr. Peter Lloyd
After full consideration, the Parole Board was informed on 3 August this year that six full-time members were to be appointed to the board. A press statement about the appointments was issued on 27 August, a copy of which has been placed in the Library of the House.
Full-time members will bring valuable managerial and training experience to the work of the board and they will have the time to assist the chairman in long-term planning and the development of policy and procedures.
