HL Deb 18 October 1993 vol 549 cc33-4WA
Lord Wigoder

asked Her Majesty's Government:

  1. (a) on what date the M.20 motorway between Maidstone and Ashford (Junctions 5–8) was last wholly free of roadworks,
  2. (b) what date it is anticipated that this stretch of motorway will be wholly free of roadworks, and
  3. (c) when they expect to remove signs "Opening Summer 1993" currently prominently displayed alongside roadworks.

The Earl of Caithness

The length of M.20 between Junctions 5 and 8 was last wholly free of roadworks in January 1989. Junction 8 of the M.20 motorway was affected by the construction of the Maidstone to Ashford section between Junctions 4 and 5 between March and July 1991. Work to widen the section between Junctions 5 and 8 started at the end of July 1991.

The motorway between Junctions 5 and 8 should be free of major construction work by the end of October.

The signs will be removed shortly.
