§ Mr. Lidington
To ask the Secretary of State for Transport if he will make a statement on the effect which the EC's Tern programme will have on his Department's proposals for the east-west route and the A418 west of Aylesbury-Wing bypass.

§ Mr. Key
The east-west route was accepted as part of the trans-European road network, TERN, by the Council of Ministers on 29 October. The A418 west of Aylesbury-wing bypass forms part of the route.
Inclusion in the TERN has no effect on the standards we propose for the route.
