Mr. Geoffrey Robinson

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what was the breakdown of spending on education projects within the ODA in the year 1991–92; how much of the total was allocated to basic education for children and literacy for adults; and how much was allocated for a secondary and tertiary education, buildings and other services to education beyond the basic level.

Total ODA spending on education projects in developing countries during 1991–92 amounted to just under £115 million. This figure, which includes all project aid and technical co-operation as well as Commonwealth Development Corporation project aid in this sector, is broken down as follows:
