HC Deb 04 November 1993 vol 231 c476W
Mr. Don Foster

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what was the last assessment of the level of risk facing British forces in Bosnia-Herzegovina from(a) Croat, (b) Muslim and (c) Serb forces; how often such levels of risk are assessed; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Hanley

British forces in Bosnia-Herzegovina face considerable risks in carrying out their task of escorting humanitarian aid. The principal threat is posed by fighting between Bosnian factions in the vicinity of British bases, rather than by deliberate targeting. We keep the level of danger under continuous review; assessments are made daily both in the United Kingdom and in theatre.
