To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will show for each of the 20 largest housing associations the number of houses under management per employee.

Housing associations provide a wide diversity of accommodation, from general family housing to homes for those with special needs, including sheltered homes for the elderly, and hostel accommodation for single homeless people. The ratio of employees to units managed varies according to the nature of the housing managed as well as the circumstances of the individual association. The latest figures available, taken from the annual statistical returns made to the Housing Corporation at 31 March 1992, for the largest 20 housing associations are as follows:
