Mr. Raynsford

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what has been the average increase in rents for(a) council tenants, (b) housing association tenants and (c) private tenants with regulated tenancies in each of the past three years; and what were the comparable figures in the retail prices index, average earnings and the average value of houses in England.

Information on the percentage changes in average rent levels in the last three years is set out in the table. The table also gives the corresponding changes in the retail prices index, average earnings and average house prices. Figures refer to England unless otherwise stated.
