§ Mr. AltonTo ask the Secretary of State for Health if she will publish the text of the copy letter sent to her by the leaders of Liverpool and Knowsley councils, dated 28 April, concerning the future of Broadgreen hospital accident and emergency unit, a copy of her response, the final number of objections received to this proposal and an estimate of when she will publish her conclusions.
§ Mr. SackvilleLiverpool health authority, at a meeting on 12 May, accepted a series of proposals for the future development of national health services in the city, including the closure of Broadgreen hospital's accident and emergency department. The authority's decision may have to be considered by Mersey regional health authority and referred to my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for a decision if the local community health councils object. The proposals were the subject of full public consultation, during which time all views expressed were passed to Liverpool health authority to be taken into account before a final decision was reached.
