§ Lord Trefgarneasked Her Majesty's Government:
What are the arrangements for the publication of technical information concerning military aerodromes available for civil use.
Viscount CranborneAeronautical information about government aerodromes, including military airfields, available for civil use is detailed in Section AGA 3–4 of the CAA UK Air Information Publication (UK AIP)—commonly known as theAir Pilot—which is available for general purchase. Changes concerning military airfields are notified to the CAA's Aeronautical Information Services (AIS) at Heathrow by individual airfields, the RAF Aeronautical Information Documentation Unit (AIDU)—based at RAF Northolt—and the National Air Traffic Services (NATS). The CAA AIS promulgates immediate changes through Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs), and issues bulletins and amendments to the UK AIP on a regular basis; these are available for civil users on subscription.
In addition to the UK AIP, aeronautical information about military airfields is published in the RAF's Flight Information Publication, En Route Supplement (published by AIDU). Although primarily designed for military use, the publication is available for general purchase. Immediate changes are promulgated by the CAA AIS as NOTAMs and the RAF AIDU issues bulletins and amendments to its publication on a regular basis; these are available to civil users on subscription.
