To ask the Secretary of State for Health how many health promotion clinics were functioning at 1 June 1992; and if she will list their cost and a breakdown of the various services and therapies being provided through those clinics at that time.

Information on the number of clinics as at 1 June 1992 was not collected centrally. The number of claims made by partnerships in England for health promotion clinic sessions for the year ending 1 April 1992 was 1,331,277. The forecast total expenditure on health promotion clinics for the 1992–93 financial year is £74.448 million.

There is no central breakdown of the services and therapies provided through health promotion clinics.
