HC Deb 24 March 1993 vol 221 c627W
27. Mr. Barry Jones

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will make a statement on pollution in the Irish sea and Liverpool bay.

Mr. Maclean

The four reports of the Irish sea study group in 1990 on the environmental health and management of the Irish sea suggested that the general health of the Irish sea was similar to comparable semi-enclosed seas. The United Kingdom and Irish Governments have set up a co-ordination group to review research and monitoring programmes and advise on priorities for further work to improve our knowledge of environmental issues affecting the Irish sea.
