§ Mr. Gordon Prentice
To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what criteria will be used to select representatives of British local government to sit on the EC Committee of the Regions.

§ Mr. Garel-Jones
No final decisions have yet been taken, but clearly United Kingdom members on the Committee of the Regions should have a broad range of expertise in order to deal with the issues which the committee will address.
