HL Deb 15 March 1993 vol 543 c68WA
Lord Stoddart of Swindon

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Pursuant to the reply of Earl Ferrers on 8th February 1993 (WA 33), in which year and at what age were alleged war crimes committed by the people under investigation who are now aged (a) under 65 years, and (b) between 65 and 70 years.

Earl Ferrers

The war crimes unit of the Metropolitan Police is now investigating only one person who is believed to be under the age of 65 and 33 people who are believed to be aged between 65 and 70. Most of the allegations against individuals relate to incidents which occurred during the period from June 1941 to the spring of 1944. Part of the police investigation is to identify more precisely the dates and places of these incidents and to verify the ages of those who are alleged to have committed them. It would not be appropriate to provide more details about this small number of individuals because of the risk that their identity might be revealed.
