§ Mr. Austin-WalkerTo ask the Secretary of State for Transport what representations he has received about the future of travelcards in London; and what steps he is taking to ensure the continued availability of such cards after bus deregulation and rail privatisation.
§ Mr. NorrisMy right hon. Friend has received a number of representations about this. The Government are discussing with London public transport operators what developments in joint ticketing arrangements, such as travelcard, will best meet the future needs of passengers and operators. In the light of travelcard's popularity, private sector bus and rail operators will be keen for commercial reasons to offer such a facility.
