HC Deb 08 March 1993 vol 220 cc410-1W
Mr. Wilshire

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what were his reasons for(a) accepting report 665 of the Local Government Boundary Commission and (b) not giving detailed reasons for his decision when he announced it on 23 February.

Mr. Robin Squire

The recommendations from the Local Government Boundary Commission were accepted because it was considered to be in the interests of effective and convenient local government to have the existing airport in one local government area. We carefully considered the commission's recommendations and all representations on them. We reached our conclusion on a balance of judgment and, as has been the consistent practice in such cases, we do not propose to set out our reasoning in greater detail.
