To ask the President of the Board of Trade if he will arrange for the publication of an interim report of his Department's investigation of the pub leasing policies and practices of Inntrepreneur Estates Ltd. as soon as possible, and thereafter consider initiating a full and public inquiry; and if he will make a statement.

[holding answer 14 June 1993]: My right hon. Friend, the President of the Board of Trade and I have received a number of representations about Inntrepreneur Estates Ltd. pub leasing arrangements. My Department has been looking into the specific points raised and I expect replies to be sent shortly.

To ask the President of the Board of Trade, pursuant to his answer of 7 June,Official Report, columns 161–62, what investigations he has initiated into the Inntrepreneur scheme operated by Grand Metropolitan Enterprises within the brewery industry; upon what basis these investigations were begun; who is being consulted; to whom evidence can be submitted; and if he will make a statement.
