To ask the Secretary of State for Health if she will make a statement on the fulfilment of the statutory consultation period in respect of the scheme by Dryburn hospital to convert one of two paediatric wards into a day ward; how much money has so far been spent; and if she will make a statement.

We understand that the North Durham district health authority is considering the future of these wards and will consult the community health council on any proposals for substantial variations to sevices, as required by the Community Health Council Regulations 1985.
