HL Deb 14 June 1993 vol 546 cc65-6WA
Lord Mackay of Ardbrecknish

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What is the annual grant given to the Scottish Arts Council; what musical organisations receive grants from the council, and what is the size of each grant; and what were the equivalent figures for each of the last two years.

Viscount Astor

Grant in aid to the Scottish Arts Council in the past three years has been:

Year Amount (£million)
1991–92 19.69
1992–93 22.69
1993–94 23.5

I am advised that some £7.98 million has been allocated for support for music in 1993–94. Individual grants are made to a large number of organisations, and, while allocations have been made for categories of support, it is not yet possible to give a breakdown of organisations which will receive grants this year. The major recipients and categories of small grant recipients for 1991–92 and 1992–93 are:
