HC Deb 14 June 1993 vol 226 c437W
Mr. Redmond

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what was the cost of the Metropolitan police of closing the M4 for the tanks of the Life Guards and Blues and Royals to return to Windsor on 28 May following Thursday's Horse Guards Parade ceremony and of policing the journey; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Charles Wardle

The motorway was not closed. Cars were prevented from entering the motorway temporarily as the convoy approached each junction in order to allow it to proceed en bloc.

The escort was provided at no additional cost to the Metropolitan police.
