What steps they propose to take to ensure that no theatres close as a result of the Department of National Heritage's "arm's length" funding policy for the arts.

My right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for National Heritage, in his Statement of 21st July in another place, reaffirmed the arm's length principle for arts funding. It is for the Arts Council to make allocations of grant.
