To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what comparative studies have been undertaken of the systems for providing capital financing for nationalised industries among EC countries.

While we are generally aware of other countries' arrangements, the Government have not undertaken a comprehensive study.

Other countries are following the United Kingdom's lead in privatising nationalised industries.
