308Wreactor grade plutonium is held in secure conditions while in the United Kingdom. Any exports are subject to stringent internationally accepted standards of safeguards and physical protection. The Government would allow the export of plutonium from reprocessing only on receipt of satisfactory assurances that the material would be used only for peaceful purposes.
