To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs how many staff of the British embassy in Madrid monitor the enforcement of EC legislation relating to animal welfare in Spain.

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

There is one agricultural attache in the British embassy in Madrid who is responsible for the full range of agricultural matters, including animal welfare.
