HC Deb 11 January 1993 vol 216 cc564-5W
Mr. Madden

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs how many visas at each British overseas post have been(a) applied for, (b) granted, (c) refused and (d) have a decision pending since visa requirements were introduced upon certain former Yugoslav nationals wishing to visit the United Kingdom; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

The method of collecting statistics at posts worldwide does not normally allow us to establish the number of applications by nationality. For an initial period, however, we are monitoring the effect of the visa regime on former Yugoslav nationals on the visa sections at Belgrade, Vienna, Zagreb, Budapest, Sofia, Rome, Milan, Florence, Naples, Dusseldorf and Paris. At these posts 1,715 applications were received from former Yugoslav nationals: 1,251 were granted, 238 were refused and 203 have a decision pending.
