HC Deb 11 January 1993 vol 216 c619W
Dr. Strang

To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what is the Government's estimate of the effect upon the food group retail prices index of the recent devaluation of the green pound.

Mr. Gummer

It is estimated that the devaluations of the green pound which took place between mid-September 1992 and 1 January 1993 may increase the food component of the retail prices index by about 2 per cent., once the effects of the increases in CAP support prices have worked through.
