§ 129. Mrs. Dunwoody
To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what percentages of(a) ethnic minorities and (b) white people are homeless in London.
§ Mr. Baldry
Local authorities report the number of households for whom they accept responsibility to secure permanent accommodation under the homelessness provisions of the Housing Act 1985 in their quarterly P1(E) return.
In the quarter ending September 1992 only 17 out of 33 London boroughs provided the information classified by ethnic origin. On average in those boroughs 47 per cent. of households accepted as homeless were from ethnic minorities and 53 per cent. were white.
