To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what information he has on the situtation in Bhutan and on arrangements for refugees from Bhutan in neighbouring countries.

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

Following the implementation of Bhutanese citizenship laws there are estimated to be about 72,000 refugees from Bhutan in camps in eastern Nepal. A further 10,000 refugees are in India. We are providing financial help for the refugees in Nepal through the Save the Children fund.
