To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what is the latest estimate of the timetable for the Local Government Commission's review of Suffolk and Norfolk local authority areas.

We intend that the Local Government Commission should review Suffolk and Norfolk in separate reviews in the fourth tranche of its work programme. It is too early to give a firm estimate for the starting dates of the later reviews, but it is likely that those of Suffolk and Norfolk will be started in 1995.
