To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will make a statement on the operation of the new single market VAT procedures introduced at the beginning of the year.

Sir John Cope

Early indications are that the new single market VAT procedures have been introduced with minimum disruption to trade. This reflects credit on the preparations made by Customs and by British businesses, often against tight deadlines.
