HC Deb 02 February 1993 vol 218 c109W
Mr. Michael

To ask the Secretary of State for National Heritage whether, at the end of the term of office of the present incumbent, he will separate the posts of chairman of the English tourist board and chairman of the British Tourist Authority.

Mr. Key

The present arrangement, whereby the chairmanship of the British Tourist Authority and the chairmanship of the English tourist board are held by the same person, has worked well for the past eight years. The bringing together of these two posts has increased the effectiveness and efficiency of the two bodies, which complement each other's efforts on behalf of the tourism industry. I therefore have no plans to separate the posts.
