HC Deb 01 February 1993 vol 218 c30W
Sir David Steel

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what representations he has made to the Jamaican Government over their planned resumption of the death penalty.

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

The Jamaican Appeal Court is still in the process of reviewing the cases of those on death row into capital and non-capital categories. Those found guilty of capital offences can appeal to a panel of Appeal Court judges. It would therefore not be appropriate for Her Majesty's Government to make representations to the Jamaican Government.
