§ Mr. Redwood[holding answer 15 December 1993]: The information requested is shown in the following table. The figures for cash spend have been deflated using the GDP deflator, which is currently estimated to be running at a much higher level than the RPI or pay increases. These figures can therefore mislead on the true real value of the cash sums.
