To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer if tax is applicable in the occupied royal palaces reserved for(a) the Duke and Duchess of Kent, (b) the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, (c) Princess Alexandra and (d) Prince and Princess Michael of Kent.

The normal income tax rules apply to living accommodation provided in royal palaces. I am sure the hon. Gentleman will realise that the rules of confidentiality regarding taxpayers' affairs prevent me from commenting on individual cases.
