HC Deb 15 December 1993 vol 234 c663W
Mr. Worthington

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs when was the last time that a British Foreign Office Minister visited Sudan; and when he plans to visit Khartoum to stimulate a peace initiative.

Mr. Douglas Hogg

The then Foreign Secretary visited Sudan in September 1988. We continue to look closely at all possible ways of helping bring about an end to the civil war in Sudan, and have welcomed the peace initiative of the Kenyan, Ugandan, Ethiopian and Eritrean Presidents. There are no firm plans for a visit to Sudan by a Foreign and Commonwealth Office Minister at present, but we do not rule out this option.
