HC Deb 15 December 1993 vol 234 c663W
Mr. Parry

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what is the latest decision of the Security Council of the United Nations concerning the situation on the Korean peninsula; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Douglas Hogg

On 11 May the United Nations Security Council passed a resolution, SCR 825, calling on North Korea to reconsider its stated intention to withdraw from the Nuclear non-proliferation treaty and to honour all its obligations under that treaty, including complying with its safeguards agreement with the International Atomic Energy Agency. The Council also decided to remain seized of the matter and to consider further action as necessary.
