To ask the Secretary of State for Wales how many council tax appeals have been received in Wales.

As at 30 November 53,623 proposals for the alteration of the valuation list had been received by the Valuation Office Agency. This represents 4.4 per cent. of all dwellings in the valuation lists. Of these 10,600 had already been settled. The Welsh Office is considering the arrangements for dealing with outstanding appeals with the agency and representatives of the valuation tribunal service.
