Mr. Peter Robinson

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many persons in Northern Ireland receive more than £100 per week in respect of invalidity benefit.

Mr. Hanley

Responsibility for the subject in question has been delegated to the Social Security Agency under its chief executive, Mr. Alec Wylie, who wrote to the hon. Gentleman on 6 April.

Letter from Alec Wylie to Mr. Peter Robinson, dated 6 April 1993:

As I am responsible for Social Security operational matters your recent Parliamentary Question on the number of persons receiving more than £100.00 per week in respect of Invalidity Benefit has been passed to me for reply.

At 1 April 1993 the number of people in Northern Ireland receiving more than £100.00 per week Invalidity Benefit was 8,559.

I hope you find this helpful. A copy of this reply will appear in the official report and copies will be placed in the Library.
