Member for Nottingham, North (Mr. Allen) on 8 February,Official Report, column 424, when the boundary commission was instructed to produce proposals for distributing the additional European Parliament seats; when he expects to receive the proposals; and what assessment he has made of the adequacy of the time available for their implementation before the next European elections.
§ Mr. Peter LloydThe boundary commisions has at present no power to undertake a review of boundaries to accommcdate the six additional seats.
§ Mr. AllenTo ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what arrangements he will make for the additional European parliamentary constituencies; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. Peter LloydThe Government are currently formulating proposals for accommodating the six extra seats, and when we have done so we will consult the Opposition parties.
