§ Mr. Allan StewartThe holding of the European Council in Edinburgh in December offers a tremendous opportunity for promoting Scotland on a world stage. The Scottish Office is working with a number of other organisations to ensure that the most is made of that opportunity. A co-ordinated media strategy is in place, which includes a programme of visits to Scotland by foreign journalists. Scotland is also playing a major role in the programme of presidency special events, of which over 25 have or will take place in Scotland.
