HC Deb 19 October 1992 vol 212 c198W
Mr. Sproat

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what financial provisions, and how much, he has made within his Department in order to look at the potential for deregulation of each of the regulatory measures for which he has responsibility.

Mr. Norris

It is not possible to place a financial figure on the Department's involvement with deregulation. The Department is continually seeking opportunities for deregulation in transport and a high proportion of its current policies are directed at this aim. In addition, whenever new legislation or regulation is being considered by the Department, the Department examines closely the cost impact of such measures, especially on business.
