HC Deb 19 October 1992 vol 212 c218W
Mr. Raynsford

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will publish(a)the criteria used to decide which of the city challenge bids were to be supported and which rejected and(b)the technical assessments made on each of the city challenge bids.

Mr. Robin Squire

The second round of city challenge, for which bids were required by 22 April, was open to all 57 urban priority areas. Fifty-four bids were received and each was assessed against the aims and criteria set out in the "City Challenge Bidding Guidance 1993–94", which was published in February 1992. A copy of the guidance is in the Library of the House. The assessment process included consideration of the written bids and analysis of projected outputs involving all the relevant Government Departments, regional presentations to officials and meetings with Ministers.
