Data from: English National Board for Nursing, Midwifery and Health Visiting.

Notes: 1991–92 figures are rounded to the nearest 10.

1. The numbers of nursing and midwifery training places commissioned for 1992 and 1993 for staff to commence training programmes is taken from the Working Paper 10 Regional Balance Sheets dated 15 October 1992.

2. Figures do not include nurses and midwives who are being funded by the Department for Education.

3. Regional figures for commissioned places in 1993 are still being refined. However, we are able to provide an estimated aggregate figure for England from data available to date.
