Training and Enterprise Councils

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment if she will make a statement on the funding of training and enterprise councils in 1992–93.

Training and enterprise councils have a key role in working with other bodies towards achieving the Government's strategic priorities for training, enterprise and vocational education. We have made £2.2 billion available for TEC delivered programmes.

Ms. Short

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment if she will publish the budget agreed with each training and enterprise council in England for 1992–93, broken down into the five major expenditure blocks; if she will give comparable information for each TEC for 1991–92; and if she will make a statement.

The information is not available in the precise form requested as expenditure blocks are no longer the basis for agreeing TEC budgets. Information about TEC programme budgets is available and details are shown on the tables. The £2.1 billion planned expenditure for programmes operated by TECs/LECs for 1992–93, is over £100 million more than was spent last year.
