asked Her Majesty's Government:

How many officials currently working in the Treasury have been seconded to (a) other fiscal or financial institutions either within the Government or without, and (b) how many have been seconded to other departments or institutions engaged in environmental research or management.

Of the officials currently working in the Treasury, (a) some 55 have been seconded to fiscal or financial institutions, including the Inland Revenue, IMF and private sector financial bodies; there have also been secondments to posts handling fiscal or financial matters within other types of organisations; (b) five have been seconded to the Department of the Environment.
