Mr. Mackinlay

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, pursuant to his answer of 14 May,Official Report, column 204, which non-Home Office police forces have an agreement with the Police Complaints Authority; and which do not.

Mr. Charles Wardle

The Police Complaints Authority has agreements under part IX of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984 with six private police forces. These are:

  • British Transport Police
  • Ministry of Defence Police
  • Port of Liverpool Police
  • Port of Tilbury Police
  • Royal Parks Constabulary
  • United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority Constabulary

An exhaustive list of other bodies with powers to appoint a body of constables is not readily available, but agreements have been made with the Police Complaints Authority by all forces whose strengths exceed 100 officers.
