HC Deb 25 June 1992 vol 210 c324W
Mr. Win Griffiths

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales if he will make a statement about the nature and extent of the problem of the illegal dumping of dead animals in the countryside and the measures he is taking to deal with it.

Mr. David Hunt

The state veterinary service continues to monitor the reports of dumped carcasses, but there is no conclusive evidence that large numbers of animals are being left unburied. The Government have taken a number of steps, including the provision of free advice to farmers on alternative and safe methods of disposal for those who do not wish to use the services of the knacker industry.
