HL Deb 02 June 1992 vol 537 c61WA
Lord Hylton

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What are the present guidelines defining "compelling compassionate circumstances", in so far as these affect cases for family reunion, where one or more family members have been granted "exceptional leave to remain" in England; and

Whether they will issue revised guidance to immigration officers and adjudicators concerning "compelling compassionate grounds" in cases for family reunion.

Earl Ferrers

Detailed guidelines are not issued defining "compelling compassionate circumstances". Each case is considered in the light of the individual circumstances of the sponsor and those family members seeking reunion.
